Disaster Response Program

BBF’s Disaster Response program focuses on working hand-in-hand with first responders and relief agencies in the affected areas to provide ongoing support. This includes the sourcing and staging of resources, creating partnerships with transportation networks, and working with local partners and other VOADs (Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster), along with engaging with volunteers to sort and send disaster relief supplies.

Program Highlights

BBF responded to 10 disasters throughout 2022,providing grants, medication, healthcare equipment, and humanitarian supplies for relief and recovery efforts. These disasters included the war in Ukraine, flooding in Kentucky, Hurricanes Ian and Fiona, tornadoes in Kentucky, the water crisis in Jackson, Mississippi, an earthquake in Puerto Rico, historic floods in Pakistan, support for medical treatment for Venezuelan refuge families in Chile, an earthquake in Indonesia and wildfires in California.

BBF also launched our biggest response to date with our relief work in Ukraine. We have supplied critically needed medications, medical supplies, and humanitarian relief to those impacted in Ukraine itself and to refugees in Poland.
